I just bought a set of .030 forged set of pistons for a recently acquired '68
428
block. They are TRW brand, and they were tough to find, i.e., I'm in Michigan,
and I found them in MA. I paid around $400.00 for mine. I was also able to
locate some cast .040 pistons for the 428 out of Grand Rapids MI, around
$300.00
for a set.

I believe that there is no one making new pistons for the 428 in large
quantities,
but there is most likely some old stock out there sitting on shelves.

In addition, I also talked to an aftermarket company (I found via the web) that
did not have any 428 pistons specifically, but he said their specs for the
Pontiac
428 piston were the same as the Cheby 427 pistons, and they had lots of those.
I
never checked into this to see if I could use the 427 Cheby pistons on my GM
428
block, just didn't seem right :) This company also said that they can make any
piston for you, custom, but the price for that is up around the $700.00 mark
for
forged pistons.

Just a quick search on the web yeilds dozens of smaller aftermarket companies
that
will make you a custom set of pistons...
