First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List

Sam,

I was pleased with the way the Eaton springs worked--I went with stiffer
shocks as well. I think Hugo's right about the weight in the rear and the
need for stiffer springs. But they may be able to make something custom if
you want a higher rate but the same ride height. Worth asking, if you
didn't already.

As for the OHC engine stuff, there's the original shop manuals that have all
of the original information. I have also scoured the internet and gotten a
lot of extra information, and also gotten a lot of great help form a lister
who has been quiet this year, Gary Patrick. There are other forums that are
specifically ohc groups ( http://sohcsix.yuku.com/). And if you ask on the
group you come across other guys who have learned stuff, too. There's one
of the listers (whose name is escaping me right now) who has a business that
deals specifically in ohc stuff ( http://www.primatechmotorsports.com/).
And I might know something, too, if you ask on the list! At least, I have
made lots of mistakes that I am (mostly) willing to share about!

Thanks Dan. I called them, and they do not show a heavy duty spring for the
sprint coupe. I recall reading in the 1968 sales manual that the sprint had
heavy duty rated front and rear springs. Before I order them from Eaton, I
was hoping for confirmation. I'm leaning toward the Heavy Duty.....BTW, do
you know of any good OHC engine books?
Sam
