The lockup can be as simple as a toggle switch to turn it on and off.
In the city you keep it off, when you get on the highway you turn it on.

I had mine wired that way with the addition of a brake light switch from a 70's or early 80's GM car with a cruise control. It has an additional set of contacts that will open when you push the brake pedal. You wire the toggle switch in series with these contacts so that if you have the lockup on and you step on the brake then it will disengage it. Its a junk yard part and very easy to find.

I have since upgraded to a B&M controller part #

B&M 70244 (Summit has it for $175.95) which comes with a speed sensor adapter and a control box that allows you to set the speed that the lockup kicks in. Very nice. The side effect of having the speed sensor is that it will allow me to install a modern cruise control (like the one used in a 4th gen) since it needs the speed signal. It's all self contained and does not use vacuum

to operate.

I know this has come up before,

My convert is a real 400 car. I am thinking of going th200 rather than the
th400.

I know all the bolt-up issues..

But the whole lock up converter thin confuses me.

This will be a bone stock driver.
