There's a c-clip on the underside of the ball.  expand it and slide it down and 
the ball slides down.  then you can get to the c-clip that's on the inside that 
keeps it from sliding up.  Take that c-clip off and everthing will slide up and 
off.  The center button just seems to be some sort of spring tail holder and 
mind just pulled up with the rest of it.  There's a brass anti-rotation ring on 
the inside that will also come out.  It looks complicated in the exploded 
drawings but pretty simple once you see it. You might need a mirror to get the 
first bottom clip off.
