Sounds pretty cheap to me - it cost over $1200 to ship my FB from
Colorado Springs to LA last year! Of course, that was by land.

Me and Knut have shipped several cars from the US to Norway.
It's easy, really, there is several freight companies, only I don't
know if any of them have service to Ireland, but then it is just to
ask around.
You should have the choice of ro/ro(roll on - roll off) shipping,
that's them special car hauling vessels, and regular container freight.
Container is a little more $$ but should be safer against any damage
to the car. Over here we are seeing more and more damages during
container freight also, oh well.
Be sure to insure the car very well!
Prices have been upped dramatically the last year, due to fuel costs
and such, maybe they will go down again due to the financial chrisis,
but nothing ever does.....
I paid about $1700 total back in 2005 when I got my 69 (ro/ro) and
close to $2200 total for my 94 Eldo this september(container).
