Bilsteins should work on the front for any first gen, the rears, I am not sure, since they changed the shock orientation. However I have the feeling you'll be just fine. For what it's worth, Bilstein is one of the best! I LOVE them on my M3! I wish they made a coilover for the M3 that was of race care quality but not over 2k!
