First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List
.........................................................................
Hello all,

I am working on a ' 67 firebird with a 10:1 400 motor, #62 heads, a ..465" cam,
HEI dist., stock quad style intake, 350 auto, and a Holley 4412 2 barrel carb.

This combo was in a asphalt street stock race car once and has been in this
weekend driven street car since. It ran great until about 6 months ago. The
problem is at hot idle. It starts and runs good cold. Once it is up to
operating temp (195ish) it will die in gear at idle. It will start right up and
idle at a faster than normal rate in neutral, but die in gear. Once it is cold
it is fine again.

I have rebuilt the carb with no improvement. Replaced the main metering block
with no improvement. I have searched for vacuum leaks but have found none. I
don't know if I have included enough info, but I am at a loss. Any ideas? I
was thinking about doing a rebuild on the distributor, just to scratch it off
the list.

Thanks in advance.
