First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... But, whatever you do, DO NOT buy any eBay stainless steel engine bolt kits for the Pontiac. The bolts either don't fit right, are too long, the wrong thread pitch. It's not worth the aggravation.

I like the way they look and the convenience of not spending hours restoring the old stuff. The kits are a little expensive but when you think of the time savings, it's money well spent. As I said before, the kits are not 100% complete so you will have to buy some missing pieces or restore your originals. Also, the bolts don't have the leading tips like the originals. This becomes important when things aren't perfectly lined up and you can't get the SS bolt started (increases assy time). The originals have leading tips, etc. that help get them started easier, e.g. door hinge bolts, etc. Also, many of the washers are not the same thickness or diamter, i.e. they are thinner and smaller (cost savings for the vendor), e.g. fender body bolt washers, etc. Would I use them on my next build? Absolutlely yes. Sheen > Sheen, > > How do you like the Totally Stainless kit?
