The second digit (in this case 4 or 3) denotes heat range. I don't know the difference between a 4 and a 3. I use a 45 in my '74 400. The AC Delco website recommends against using a different heat range, but they probably have to say that. The first digit (4) is the thread size, so obviously that has to be the same. I was at my parts dealer to pick some AC delco R44S plugs for my 400
engine.
They told me they aren't produced anymore and that I should use the
R43's instead.

Is this true or just bull?
