Hmmm, 10psi/1Krpm seems a little low - that would mean 10 or less at idle[?!]. 
Ten psi is barely enough to get oil up to the rocker arms.  From what I've read 
on all GM engines, the normal operating spec is 40-60psi, [perhaps 30-35 hot]. 

re: h/p pump;  bearing clearance if far more important than journal size, [no 
matter the what brand of engine]. If the bearing clearances are set to nominal 
or on the low-side, there's no need for a hi-press pump. The collective 
clearances in the oil system [& oil viscosity] have the biggest influence on 
pressure, not so much the pump.
