First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... My two cents:
I am looking for another 68 coupe as a daily driver. I really don't like the spoiler and I understand that folks should feel free to do what they want to with their cars, but a LOT of cars are being bought by dealers (or guys who play at being "classic car" dealers) who throw on a spoiler. And a 400 hood. (And then want to charge more!) I have found a couple selling "correct 400 rebuilt engines" in cars with the 6 cylinder VIN. By the way, there are some very nice cars for sale, but very, very few are selling because everyone wants 20,000 or more (some LOTS more). From: "KJ" <[email protected]> Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2009 08:01:15 -0700 (PDT) Thanks Brent, Afterall, expressing ones individuality is at the very core of the American car culture. (and Canadian too, eh?). Car customizing goes back just about as far as the car. I saw on a tv show the other day, Chip Foose said something like: If I want to see a restoration that's fine, I know where to go look for that. What I'm really interested in is seeing what these cars are capable of becoming. I'm not advocating putting a front clip on a bird and calling it a camaro or something totally radical, but adding a spoiler, some custom paint, or swapping out rims simply follows history as well as preserving a small piece of it. I believe KJ says it best. If you like it, do it...after all, we paid for them and the only person we have to please is ourselves....and the wife of course..lol There are a few things I've done to my bird that purists cringe over but that's what makes it unique. P.S. KJ, The pics of the bird look awesome.
