Q: what is the correct length of starter cable for 68 400 firebird? and what is the best way to keep it off of the headers? Thanx Larry According to the Pontiac Parts book, part 6289140 is a 2 wire cable that is is 61" to the starter and 22" to the firewall positive block. I have a cloth loom (from YearOne) over mine where wear and heat could harm it. I have the cable routed on a clip by the block that I assumed was there for the purpose of routing the cable originally so it stays away from the longbranch manifold.
