Brett,

I just want to note something on this diagram for mounting a tach. When I
looked at it, I thought something looked odd. It just so happens that my
car came with a tach from the factory. I have the order sheet that shows
it came with the car. I'm 90% sure my tach is the original one as it was
serviced once it its life and had the original owners name engraved on the
under side of it. I've had the car for about 21 years. I'm the second owner
and car had all of the proper original wiring under the hood for it.

Anyway, when I looked at the diagram you have, I noticed it's for the type
1 Tall Tach. My tach is a 68 short tach and it only has 3 mounting holes
instead of 4 and they are in different locations. I think the short tach
is the more common one. I don't know if the large tach hole location is
the same or not, but I did make a template. If anyone needs that, I can fax
it to them. By the way, I would be interested in hearing from anyone else
that had an original hood with a tach. I would like to know how well your
hole was cut in the hood from the factory. My hole looked like it was cut
with a torch. The edges had metal that looked like it was flame cut.
Plenty good for a hole in the hood that gets covered up, but not perfect.
Also, I'm pretty sure my hood was the original as it also had the plastic
strap attached to it by the tach to hold the wiring harness in place.

I believe John Shue drew this up... Thought it still might be worth
sharing...

Brett!
