I've always checked it by how many degrees the crank moves before the
camshaft moves. I think the limit is about 3 degrees.

Hi guys
How much is the timing chain allowed to flex sideways before it's
considered worn out?
My chain can be moved about 5/16". Should it be replaced?
I've been looking in my old Chilton manual but can't find the specs.
