First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... I didn't really see what I was looking for there. But it did help confirm some of the others I had tried to figure out. Is there a gasket that goes between the inner core box and the defroster ducts? I thought this might be where the one with the slot goes (to slip the mounting tab through) but when you put the two pieces together that gasket doesn't really take up all the space in between. Also, does the heater core box bolt through the firewall insulator pad? I don't see any other way, i just wanted to make sure. Thanks KJ

Hi KJ, Here are a couple of good sites with the service and parts manuals. http://www.ponti.ac/birdmanual/ http://thefirstgensite.com/html/68smi.html It's been a long time since I've had mine apart but I believe the rectangular shaped gaskets are for the damper flaps, but with-out dimensions I would just be guessing. All this talk of heater cores, Well entire box, both inside and outside are both out of the car and on my work bench. I have a new gasket kit and have figured out where all of them go except two. One is a little thicker than the others, about and inch and a half wide and 3 or four inches long. No holes, just a rectangle. The other is also rectangular, about 4 inches by 5 inches and has a rectangle cut out just off center and a slot. Where do these go? I think I might know where the second one goes, but don't really want to guess. Finally assembling by huge expensive puzzle with hundreds of tiny pieces KJ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/>
