The "batwing" (never called it that myself)is the fancy washer that the
water bypass / crossover bolt goes through. You know,... from the top of the
timing cover to the front of the intake. The 3 inch or so long bolt that
pulls the two together. If you need pics / description of the proper stud
location, let me know.

I would have expected the same studs with nuts all around the pump.
Now I know better. You learn something new every day.

But I yet have to learn what a batwing washer is.
Some sort of spring washer?
Is it possible to get a picture Bo?

Two of the fasteners will be small studs with fine thread castle nuts, the
rest will be coarse with deep star type grooves cut in from point to point
on the head. Ames should sell a correct kit. I am glad that you are going
the correct route. Makes me proud.

FN259PT is the ames kit number. I don't think it has the studs but the bolts
are right.
