In the instructions from the place that rebuilt my power steering gear and pump, they say to turn lock to lock at least 20 times. There were other instructions for if you were still getting foam, but that sheet is outside. I will go look at it if you are still having issues. Dan 68 Sprint Convertible 68 400 Subject: power steering pump issues From: "phil seitz" <[email protected]> Date: Sat, 2 Jan 2010 10:38:49 -0800 (PST) Hello everyone and happy new year, I have just gotten my firebird up and running and I am having trouble with the power steering. During the rebuild I decided against replacing the steering box because it was functioning properly prior to the restoration process. However now the car has a grinding sound when it is assisting when turning the wheel side to side. I have replaced the pump and pressure lines and put in royal purple steering fluid to no avail. I have attempted to "bleed" the system by turning the wheel back and forth but still is foaming in the reservoir. Any suggestions at this point would be helpfull. Thanks in advance.
