Check this site to find info about different steering arms: http://www.pozziracing.com/camaro_steering.htm#Steering%20arm%20lengths% 20and%20part%20numbers /Niklas -----Original Message----- From: Firebird-L@OakMediaCreations.com [mailto:firebir...@oakmediacreations.com] On Behalf Of jgei...@aol.com Sent: den 26 januari 2010 06:23 To: Firebird-L@OakMediaCreations.com Subject: [FGF] Question on steering knuckle arm part number First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ........................................................................ . Gents, I don't know how long we have access to the list, so I'm gonna use it now!! I have a completely rebuilt original disc brake system that I bought which was supposed to be off of a 68 Camaro with the 4 piston setup and 2 piece rotors. We're talking primo high dollar resto on this stuff. I'm putting it on my 68 bird, figuring it's the same thing. Tonight when I checked the part numbers, I notice that the part numbers on the steering knuckle arms (not the steering knuckle) are different, I'm talking about the steering knuckle arms that the tie rod ends attach to have different part numbers than shown in my 68 parts book. Oddly enough, the part numbers shown there say that the steering knuckle arms are for all cars including drum and disc brakes. Those numbers don't even match the original steering knuckle part numbers for my drum brakes that were on car. Anyway, the part numbers on my disc brake steering knuckle arms that I bought are 394568 and 394569. Can anyone tell me if these will work and if they are correct? The parts book says it should be 3916265 and 3916266 and it doesn't list different numbers for drum or disc brakes. Oddly enough those numbers do not match my drum brake knuckle arms either and I know they are original. The numbers on those are very hard to read, but they start with 24 and end with A and B. Is this some kind of Chevy funky part number conversion or what? I appreciate any input or pictures of the correct arms if anyone has them.
