No, this error is without sockets.
I have asked you before if you have done a simple test using a socket ( on a .net framework 2.0 test app ) to connect to the firebird server on port 3050 and if it were working and you answering than yes, well can you send that code ??
But, do i NEED a socket to use this version of the provider?

Why does the 1.7 works without sockets then?
1.7 uses sockets in the same way as the version 2.0
