Just to make sure - before aplying the registry file, you modified it to reflect your VS installation paths (as indicated in the ReadmeDDEX.txt file) right?
"The FirebirdDDEXProvider.reg should be modified to set the correct CodeBase and Path for the DDEX provider files (by replace the %Path% in the file with the correct paths)."
