you've obviously never tried to distribute an application in an environment like Novell Zenworks. The msi is only relucantly received by sys admins. What they really want is a "SNAP". They just distribute it (i.e, assign it to a group of users). I would guess that xcopying a set of files to a group's programs files for distribution on next logon is much the same. When all desktops are locked down, the msi is only useful for the initial SNAP creation only. No end-users ever use a setup.exe or msi - it just doesn't float.
