I'm so close - 
I have updated the machine.config file to match what's listed in the GAC:
gacutil.exe /l FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient

I can now create a connection, but get an error after selecting table(s):
<"APP_INFO">
Could not get column information for database object named '"APP_INFO"'

Don't care about location. You have to use gacutil, 'cause it's not
about directories, there're some records on various places in system.
