Bitness often catches people out. You need to match the bitness of your client application on XP to the bitness of the ODBC driver. The fact that 1.5 on the server is 32-bit (and running on a 64-bit OS) has nothing to do with the client side. And it doesn't help that MS hide the 32-bit ODBC client. Just a thought.
