Firebird uses 1 file with all you need wrapped up in it. You can also use more than 1 file - but only if you need/want to. 3 What are the strong points of firebird over MySQL? You need to decide what you want and expect. If MySQL works for you and you know it, stick with it. If you can fix the issues, surely that would be less work for you.
