What is your ODBC driver?
Try like this:
strConn = "Driver={Firebird/InterBase(r) driver};" & _
"Dbname=c:\Program Files\Fishbowl\database\data\AS SOLAR.FDB;"
OpenDBConnection strConn, "XXX", "YYY"
