That is incorrect. You need to start notepad (and any other editor) explicitly as administrator (eg right click, 'Run as administrator') before you can access the file and save it. If you are logged in as administrator under Windows 8, 7 or Vista, you are by default running with normal user privileges (unless you disabled UAC). > If you can edit, but not save such a config file, just save it > somewhere else, and then use copy+paste to replace the original with > the new version of the file.
