Hi,
 
can someone tell me what can not by accomplished today because we have not GIS?
 
I worked many times on geographical and geological data and i have not problem.
Using expression indexes "fix" all my queries and are fast.
- finding area in area
- finding adjacent parcel
- finding nearest POI 
..
I know that we have not Point data type but Latitude and Longitude can be 
stored in 2 fields
Polygons in one ore more record - design pattern ..
