Hi all

I hope I can get help from somebody. I really like the easy-to-use firebird.

We have a firebird database which has been deployed for 4 years. It is reliable
and now its size becomes 40G.

We have several Windows services (4 or 5 ), they frequently interact with this
database, including writing and reading. In addition, there are 4 websites
always retrieving data from database and presenting data to users. Actually,
the database has no time to be idle.

To my understanding, Nbackup is much faster than gbk and we do not have any
requirement to move database between different platforms, our only requirement
is if we have any dirty data or database crashes at some time, we can have
backup which can be quick restored. So we are using only NBackup and we are
doing only incremental backup and the schedule is set to three levels, 0 for
monthly, 1 for weekly, 2 for daily and 3 for hourly.

Recently I find the nbackup is very very slow. For my 40G database, it takes
almost 24 hours to finish the 0 level, for the rest levels it also takes
several hours.
Does anyone know what is the normal time consumption for nbackup? Is my case
very normal? Or what can potentially affect the speed of nbackup. Do I do
anything wrong with using the database or deploying database to make this
increment backup very slow?

The sever has 4G ram, 4cpu.
Firbird version is 2.5.1.26351

Appreciate any clue...
