Usually this is not needed when the ODS version hasn't been changed (between maintenance releases), but there is a special situation when coming from 2.5.1: http://www.firebirdsql.org/file/documentation/release_notes/html/rlsnotes253.html#notes-253 So, if your database was previously created with 2.5.2 or 2.5.0 then you are fine.
