Thanks Helen, The manual work could be needing to rename a database following a gbak restore or copying a database file before running gfix on it.
I will try using gfix to closedown the server, I had come across that command in earlier Firebird versions but had limited success with forcing it to close open connections, hopefully that is all now resolved in Firebird 2.5. Cheers, Neil Pickles - [email protected]
