Hi- I kind of get it now. With superclassic the fb_smp_server process is threaded. Its threads increase when the client connection count increases instead of adding or reducing processes.
my best guess is that fb_init_server is a listener process on the firebird port. e.g. Sun Aug 30 18:15:36 $ ps aux | grep fb_init_server bear1080 2384 0.0 0.0 114328 2236 pts/0 S+ 18:33 0:00 grep --color=auto fb_init_server thanks! I hope I am getting it a little better. that is all for tonight with fooling around with the system stuff. have a cool work week. I plan on doing some serious work! later, jim
