It's not difficult to update the last Debian packages of 2.5 for Debian 9, and update them to 2.5.8. I have done that here and use it on all my servers. I am happy to share my updated package source files, which you could build (i386 and amd64 both work). I don't currently have binary packages in a public repository although if there's enough interest I could do.
