Firebird is in Super-Server mode.
So I think the service took both files, as if it were a configuration of
multiple file databases, I can not find another explanation.
I don´t have much experience in firebird.
Multiple File Databases: A multiple file Firebird database is almost
identical to the single file database except it has more than one file
on the underlying file system. Each file has the same page size as the
initial file, and each file has a header page (page type 0x01) at the
start of the file.
Cualquier duda o comentario adicional, quedo a sus órdenes.

If Firebird is in Classic mode stopping of service has no effect to existing
connections.
