Firefox 2 has a complex bug involving Javascript clean up actions and
error messages. If you use Firebug on a page with lots of error
message (or you have javascript.options.strict on) and the page uses
lots of eval() calls, sooner or later you will crash.  Note that this
category includes any page that uses Google ads.

You can reduce the problem by
Firebug > Console > Options Javascript Options Strict OFF
Firebug > Script > limiter menu > Static (next to file name).
Upgrade to FF3, does not have this problem.
