One fix that will almost certainly work is to install Firebug in a new
profile:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
However this solution will also mean that other extension and
bookmarks will not be in the new profile. You can reinstall other
extensions in the new profile; you can run under the old profile,
export bookmarks, exit, run under the new profile, import bookmarks.
