Ok thanks, I can see that you expected something like
p.red::selection {
background: #ffb7b7;
}
in the Style side panel for DOM panel. (This rule does appear in the
CSS panel).
I looked in to this some but did not come to an answer. I would
appreciate a bug report so we don't forget about it.

It would also be helpful to know if CSS3 added selector syntax/
features or just more properties. For example, "::selection", is the
"::" new in CSS3 or just the value "selection"? If just the value are
there CSS2 rules with "::" that do work in Firebug?
