Just a question - the XmlHTTPRequest object security model prevents requests to be issued to a third-party URL. Your system obviously uses an alternate method, maybe IFRAME posting or an XSS hack to communicate with the third-party site. In that case, it's probably understandable Firebug does not display that as JSON/Ajax requests since it does not use the XmlHTTPRequest object.
Please point the obvious if I'm missing something...
