Pardon, no problem. Firefox 3.0.4 Firebug 1.2.1
As for what is wrong, I thought that would be a bit obvious from the screenshots, but no matter, I'll explain. In the first screenshot, I'm using the Inspect feature to highlight the h3 element on the page which should draw a 1px wide bordered box around that element. Instead, it draws a 4px bordered box around it (with a black border around the border lines themselves!! - see the screenshot) with an offset (not actually surrounding the statically positioned element). If you do an inspect on any other page out there, it puts the box AROUND the element with a 1px-wide border. In the second screenshot, I'm simply mousing over the heiarchy list at the top of the Firebug pane (to the right of the Inspect and Edit buttons). This should show the actual margin, padding, border and content area of the element in question. Instead, it is showing this same layered setup but with seemingly no relation to the element in question!! For instance, have a look at the greyish-purple layer. That should be the border. There is zero border around that h3 implied or otherwise. Does this help explain the issues at all? Sorry about the confusion, and thank you for taking a moment to look at this. I've provided the basic, basic HTML code that reproduces this. Feel free see if you can indeed reproduce this if you have the versions of Firefox and Firebug that I mention above. Thanks!
