I'm using 1.4a12pre (the svn state) against a version of FF3.1b3pre without these issues.
Common ways these initialization problem happen: 1) conflict with another extension: try a new firefox profile with only Firebug to test this. 2) our error in localization: try with Firefox en-US to test this. 3) A URL we don't handle: try normal sites 4) our bug. could be but these initialization issues usually show up directly and 1.4a11 has been out for a while Let us know.
