The Firefox profile is a directory that includes your extensions,
preferences, bookmarks, and history. The directory is shared by all
versions of Firefox and all extensions you load. So once something
goes wrong, there is almost nothing extension authors (including
Firebug) can do to help you. You can try to disable extensions, reset
settings, delete files etc., but who knows if this will work.

Instead, read up on how to move your bookmarks etc over to the new
profile and leave the old one behind. For sure don't copy extensions
or preferences between profiles. I think you can copy bookmarks, but
better to export/import them.
