Thank you very much for your help. It did work uninstalling it, and it didn't work creating a new profile, which was the first route I chose, to learn it.
Firebug didn't like the new profile, so I did a complete uninstall with "Total Uninstall," which erases registry files for the uninstalled application. Before uninstalling, I downloaded Firefox to install it later. I saved my bookmarks, uninstalled with "Total Uninstall," did a registry clean up with "TuneUp Utilities 2009," and restarted, just to make sure.
