I added a tracing message to Firebug 1.4 which might help diagnose
your problem in 1.4a15.
Another thing you can check: fine the directory of the profile you
used and look for a file called "compreg.dat". Open this file with a
plain text editor. Search for "dom-utils". You should have a only one
line like that, it should be:
@mozilla.org/inspector/dom-utils;1,{40b22006-5dd5-42f2-
bfe7-7dbf0757ab8b}
