1) Firebug closing on page reloads This is the new activation feature of Firebug and is not related to firebug lite.
2) Both Firebug and Firebug lite pop up at the same time (when including Firebug lite) In firebug lite click options and then check the box next to "Hide when Firebug active". Save the settings and the windows will not pop up at the same time as Firebug ... settings are stored per domain. I have changed the default to hidden in the latest development version.
