I have a vague memory of someone with a problem like yours and it ended up
being something to do with an update to the virus scanner?

Now if I'm honest I don't see how a virus scanner can interfere with a
Firefox add-on but I've seen some weird bugs due to virus scanners in my
time.

Also you don't have any other add-ons installed in Firefox by any chance?
They often interfere.
