Firebug 1.4 was developed on and tested on Firefox 3.0.  I will fix
the getfirebug.com/releases page to make this clearer.

I 100% agree with you choice. I think 1.4 on FF 3.0 is the right
combination for most Firebug users.

Firebug 1.4b2 is the best Firebug implementation we have, many bugs
from 1.3 are fixed. But this is complex program with an amazing number
of use cases. So you may find that some feature of Firebug 1.4 fails
for you.  If you don't report it, we can't fix it. Because of our
limited resources the window for fixes in 1.4 will only be about 4
more weeks.  So I strongly urge you to try 1.4 beta on FF 3.0 and
report your experience.
