As far as I am concerned, hide and minimize are the same. To me hide means you can't see it. Minimize means you can't see it because it got as small as it could get.
Focus/blur on the other hand has nothing to do with visibility. It only has to do with where input/output is directed. So, no, hide is not the same as blur/grant focus. You can call it 'arguing semantics' if you like, but if you want me to help you I need understand what you are talking about.
