Are you using Firebug 1.4.2 ? Could you make your page online so I can also reproduce the problem?
Otherwise, you can try to install Firebug "X" version with tracing enabled, e.g. http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.4X/firebug-1.4X.2.xpi Open tracing console (Firebug->Open Firebug Tracing) and try to check options (e.g. ERRORS) to see what's going on.
