Ever since I installed Firebug 1.4 (running 1.4.2 now) I have started seeing multiple requests for my sprites. The Net panel shows a distinct request for each call to the sprite on the page. See the image below for an example.

In the past only one HTTP request showed, and I'm wondering if the browser is actually making the additional request for this image each time, or if it is an issue with Firebug. If the browser DOES request the image over and over, that seems to defeat the purpose of using sprites, and there should be a way to prevent this.
