We know with a high degree of confidence that 1.4.2 has a serious bug
which causes the site activation system to fail. We have done our best
to fix that bug but not cause other problems in 1.4.3b1. It's your
choice: you can use the version we created that we know has a bug or
you can use the version we created that we believe fixes the bug.

1.4 has selective site activation so it does not need to be restored.
1.4.2 uses a Firefox feature to implement the activation which had a
bug. 1.4.3b1 implements the activation a different way. That is why I
recommend you install 1.4.3b1.

1.5 has some fine tuning of options for activation; the Firestarter
extension adds more complicated activation user interfaces. These are
both alphas.
