I'm at a loss. Firebug has disappeared. I have been using it for ages and feel lost without it. I'm currently running Firefox 3.5.3 and trying to install Firebug 1.4.3, which I think is what I was running before this all started. OS is Vista Home Premium.
Symptoms: noticed yesterday when I tried to use it that Firebug icon was gone and not listed in my add ons. Not sure how long ago it actually disappeared, but am sure I have used it within the last week, and don't think Firebox has been updated in the meantime (although not sure as I have it set to auto update). Have not added any new extensions. What I have tried so far: * repeatedly trying to reinstall, but when I restart it's not there * disabling all other extensions including AVG Safe Search and the Microsoft Net thing, which I deleted altogether. * creating a new profile with no other extensions and trying to add it there * uninstalling and then reinstalling firefox, as 3.5 and then again as 3.5.3 * throwing away extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions rdf and compatability.in my default profile and re-creating them by restarting * Turned off resident shield in AVG * opening and trying to install in safe mode Nothing seems to make any difference. the only other solution I have seen mentioned is editing the registry, which I can not attempt without guidance. I am seeing errors in my extensions log, some of them going back for months re access. (which is weird because it has been working.)
